Ahsoka Episode 8 Easter Eggs & Breakdown
After an intense buildup, the finale of Ahsoka has finally arrived on Disney+. In Part Eight, titled “The Jedi, The Witch, and The Warlord,” we witness a culmination of emotions ranging from lightsaber battles to monumental confrontations. Let’s dive into this episode’s Easter eggs and breakdown, but be warned, spoilers lie ahead for those who have not yet watched Episode 8 of Ahsoka.
Thrawn’s Cunning Plan
The episode begins with Thrawn strategizing his departure from Peridea. Before his plans unfold, he dispatches two Tie Fighters to eliminate Ahsoka’s ship. But Thrawn, being the astute commander that he is, does not underestimate the power of a Jedi. He even makes a mention of how he encountered his own defeat at the hands of a single Jedi in the past.
The Night Sisters and The Blade of Talzin
Meanwhile, Morgan Elsbeth is rewarded by the Great Mothers and bestowed with the gift of shadows. She transforms into a Nightsister and becomes the wielder of The Blade of Talzin—a flaming green lightsaber. This weapon was originally summoned by Mother Talzin, the Nightsister Matriarch, during her remarkable duel with Jedi Master Mace Windu in the Clone Wars.
Ezra’s New Lightsaber and Huyang’s Wisdom
Inside Ahsoka’s ship, we find Ezra constructing a new lightsaber. Interestingly, Huyang, the ancient protocol droid responsible for guiding young Jedi in the art of lightsaber construction, disapproves of Ezra’s methods. It is revealed that Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi who trained Ezra, learned the art of lightsaber construction from Huyang himself. Huyang reminisces about Kanan’s cleverness, curiosity, and shyness, and gifts Ezra a piece that Kanan once used to construct his own lightsaber. It is worth noting that Ezra’s new lightsaber bears a striking resemblance to Kanan’s saber in both appearance and color.
Ahsoka’s Choices and Sabine’s Support
As the events unfold, Huyang also sheds light on the post-war situation in Mandalore, providing insight into why Ahsoka and Sabine find themselves at odds. However, Ahsoka reassures Sabine that she is not angry because she understands the difficult choices Sabine has made over the years. Ahsoka’s trust in Sabine stems from the unwavering support Anakin Skywalker, her former mentor, always showed her. This trust forms the basis of Ahsoka’s commitment to stand by Sabine.
Facing The Night Troopers, Resurrection, and Betrayal
Suddenly, Tie Fighters launch an attacking assault on Ahsoka’s ship, resulting in severe damage. Against all odds, Sabine manages to eliminate the fighters. While Huyang and the Noti attempt to repair the ship, Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine infiltrate a fortress where they encounter Night Troopers. Though they successfully defeat these troopers, a shocking turn of events occurs when the Great Mothers resurrect them, effectively turning them into undead soldiers. This method of resurrection through the chant of resurrection was first introduced in The Clone Wars and is also featured in the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order game.
Ahsoka’s Final Showdown and Thrawn’s Escape
As the story nears its climax, Ahsoka engages in a fierce duel with Elsbeth. Armed with her dual lightsabers, Ahsoka faces off against Elsbeth and her Blade of Talzin. Meanwhile, Sabine and Ezra eliminate two Zombie Night Troopers. In a surprising twist, it is revealed that Sabine possesses Force abilities as well. Ezra manages to board Thrawn’s ship, leaving Ahsoka and Sabine to confront Elsbeth and the remaining Night Troopers. Ahsoka kills Elsbeth, and just as Thrawn is about to escape, Huyang arrives with the ship pursuing him.
Thrawn sends a message to Ahsoka, referring to her as a “ronin.” The term “ronin” draws a parallel to Star Wars Visions, where a “ronin” is a former Jedi who rebels against the Jedi Code and ultimately becomes a Sith. Thrawn’s message concludes with the proclamation, “Long Live The Empire,” as he jumps to hyperspace. Ahsoka and Sabine are left with no choice but to return to Peridea.
Ahsoka’s Allies and Anakin’s Presence
In a heartwarming moment, Ahsoka reunites with the Noti, and Morai, a mystical creature, appears to her, watching over her in silent guardianship. As for the other characters, Shin joins the nomads, and Baylan stands atop the finger of The Father Statue, symbolizing the complex and intrinsic relationship between the light and dark sides of the Force. The Father, The Daughter, and The Son were figures who represented these opposing forces and played a crucial role in testing Anakin Skywalker’s destiny as the Chosen One. Anakin, in the form of a Force Ghost, watches over Sabine and Ahsoka with a smile as they continue on their journey.
