Hawaii’s Iam Tongi competes for American Idol title
Hawai’i’s Iam Tongi, an 18-year-old musician of Tongan, Samoan and Irish descent, has won the hearts of millions throughout the nation with his beautiful and soulful singing and his Aloha spirit. Now he is one of the three finalists competing for the title of the next “American Idol” on Sunday. Amidst his sorrow for his father’s demise, Tongi has won the spotlight with his heart-wrenching performances.
A journey to the final
By his own admission, Tongi was inspired to audition for the hit TV show because of the bond he shared with his father Rodney, who died shortly before Tongi took the stage. His first performance singing “Monsters” by James Blunt during the audition left judge Luke Bryan in tears and kickstarted Tongi’s spectacular rise on the show. For weeks, he has been the sensation of social media with over 400,000 followers on Instagram and more than 700,000 followers on TikTok, turning him into a phenomenon across the nation.
Widespread support and recognition
Tongi’s journey to the final has won him the overwhelming support of his home state Hawai’i, the Aloha spirit, and millions of fans throughout the nation. Several famous Hawai’i artists have congratulated and showed their support for Tongi, including popular singer/songwriter, producer, dancer, and educator Kuana Torres Kahele, who performed “Lava,” one of the two songs Tongi sang during Disney Night in the semi-finals. Gov. Josh Green praised Tongi on his official Facebook page, calling him a beacon of joy, happiness, and all-things-good, highlighting his ability to share the spirit of Aloha in just a few moments with just his voice.
Voting for the next ‘American Idol’
The finale of “American Idol” will take place live on Sunday at 2 PM Hawaii Standard Time on ABC, with Tongi facing off against fellow finalists Colin Stough and Megan Danielle. Anyone can watch on KITV4 or on Hulu and participate in the voting process once the show starts. There are three ways to vote: through the “American Idol” website, app, or text, with each method allowing for up to ten votes for a contestant. Tongi‘s supporters continue to campaign actively to gain as many votes as possible.
Conclusion
Throughout his journey, Iam Tongi has shown the world his Aloha spirit, captured the attention of millions, and inspired them with his heartfelt performances, making him a hero worthy of recognition and respect. His journey serves as a reminder that even in grief and adversity, one can emerge stronger, spreading joy and positivity through art. Regardless of the result on Sunday, Tongi has won the hearts of the people in America and beyond, and we eagerly anticipate his future releases.
