It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Jeff Alessi, a former professional supercross and motocross rider, at the age of 34. According to his family members, Alessi passed away on the eve of October 2, 2023. Born on March 27, 1989, in Victorville, California, Alessi had a tremendous impact on the motocross community, inspiring many with his talent, resilience, and passion.

A Career Fueled by Passion and Grit

Alessi’s racing career began in Southern California, where he started racing with various local clubs, most notably the California Racing Club (CRC). As he grew up and raced through the ranks, Alessi and his brother, Mike Alessi, competed at iconic motocross tracks such as LACR Raceway, Glen Helen Raceway, and the Desert Wheels Motorcycle Club on the property of Edwards Air Force Base.

In 2005, Alessi made his debut in the big leagues at Hangtown Motocross Classic, where he finished 23rd in the 450 class, the highest division in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship racing. He continued to race in both the 250 and 450 divisions in both Motocross and the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series. Alessi achieved notable success throughout his career, with one top 10 finish in the 250 class and nine top 10 finishes in the 450 class in Pro Motocross. In Supercross, he earned 11 top 10 finishes in the 250 division, with a career-best finish of fifth at Anaheim 3 in 2009.

A fierce competitor, Alessi’s passion for dirt bike racing extended beyond his own success. In 2016, he opened Jeff Alessi’s Riding School, where he shared his expertise and mentored young athletes. Through his coaching and riding camps, Alessi taught the basics of racing, motorsport safety, rider etiquette, and more. Some of his students even went on to compete in the prestigious Loretta Lynn Ranch AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship.
