Dr Disrespect ‘Quits’ Call of Duty, Demands Activision Apologize to Nickmercs

In the world of video games, controversy is never far off, and it frequently spills over into the online world of content creators and streamers. Recently, Call of Duty was at the center of a controversy after Activision removed streamer Nickmercs’ Call of Duty Operator skin due to negative comments he made about the LGBTQ community. This move was criticized by many, including the popular streamer Dr Disrespect, who has since made a big show of uninstalling the game on stream and demanding that Activision either apologize to Nickmercs or reinstate his bundle.

## The Political Statement

Dr Disrespect’s stance is interesting since he claims it is not a political statement, yet he is backing Nickmercs, which is, in fact, a political statement. By saying nothing at all, content creators can also make a political statement. It is worth noting that Dr Disrespect has, numerous times, threatened to quit or uninstall Call of Duty in the past, but he has always come back to the game eventually. However, he is currently developing a rival shooter, DEADROP, an extraction-based game with blockchain elements, including NFTs initially sold to access early versions.

## Activision’s Response

There is little doubt that Activision will not issue a public apology to Nickmercs, and it would be surprising if they ever reversed course on the sale of his Operator skin. Though there might be some clause in the contract between Activision and Nickmercs regarding his likeness skin.

In conclusion, while Dr Disrespect’s stance is notable, it remains to be seen if other streamers will continue the saga or if Activision will take further action. Nickmercs is not personally banned from Call of Duty; however, it is possible that he won’t be playing with Dr Disrespect after the supposed “uninstall.”
