The British Royals Attend a Wedding in Jordan
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Princess Kate, attended the royal wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein and architect Rajwa Alseif in Jordan on Thursday. The couple was joined by Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at the ceremony.
The Wedding Ceremony
The wedding was held at an open-air venue in the presence of King Abdullah and Queen Rania. The couples sat among the audience for the traditional katb al-kitab ceremony, where the marriage contract was signed. Later, William and Kate greeted Hussein and Rajwa with hugs.
The wedding holds significance for the Jordanian royal family, as it marks the end of a longstanding feud over succession that led to legal battles. Political analyst Amer Sabaileh told CBS News, “It’s not just a marriage, it’s the presentation of the future king of Jordan. The issue of the crown prince has been closed.”
The Attire
Kate wore a dusty rose Elie Saab gown, while Beatrice wore a silver gown by Needle and Thread.
The Royals’ Connection to Jordan
William and Kate have a strong connection to the country. Kate lived in Jordan for a few years as a child, and in 2021, the couple took their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, on vacation in the country. William also spent time with Hussein during his official tour of the country in 2018.

The attendance of the British royal family at the wedding in Jordan highlights the continued relevance and importance of royal families in modern times. Despite the criticisms and controversies that have plagued the institution, there remains a fascination with the royal family and a desire to see them participating in significant events around the world.
