“The Machine” Movie: Available Options For Streaming
The Movie Synopsis
“The Machine,” directed by Peter Atencio, is a new action comedy movie starring Mark Hamill and comedian Bert Kreischer, who plays a fictionalized version of himself. The movie is based on Kreischer’s 2016 stand-up comedy routine of the same title. It tells the story of Kreischer and his father, played by Hamill, as they are kidnapped by those Kreischer wronged decades earlier during his college trip to Russia that was colored by excessive consumption of alcohol.
Where to Watch “The Machine”
Currently, the only way to watch “The Machine” is to go to a movie theater when it is released on Friday, May 26. Information about local showings can be found on Fandango’s website. Alternatively, you can wait for the movie to become available for rent or purchase on streaming platforms like Amazon, Vudu, Apple, and YouTube or to become available for streaming on Netflix.
Streaming Options
Netflix
Netflix obtained the rights to all of Screen Gems’ movie theatrical releases starting in 2022, through a deal signed with the distributor’s parent company, Sony Pictures. As a result, “The Machine” is expected to stream on Netflix after it exits the theaters. Although the exact date remains unannounced, we can estimate it by looking at other Sony Pictures movies. “The Woman King” was released in theaters on September 16, 2022, before becoming available on Netflix on February 16th, 2023 — after around five months. Based on such precedent, it is possible that “The Machine” could be available for streaming on Netflix by late October 2023. However, a digital release date should be available much earlier than that. For instance, the thriller “Missing,” led by Storm Reid, was released in theaters on January 20th and became available as a rental or purchase on March 7th — about 45 days after its theatrical debut. Applying similar criteria, it’s probable that “The Machine” will be available in digital formats such as rental or purchase as of mid-July 2023.
HBO Max
“The Machine” will not be available on HBO Max, as it is not produced by Warner Bros. Studios.
Editorial and Conclusion
The emergence of streaming platforms has revolutionized the movie industry, enabling viewers to watch shows and movies whenever and wherever they want. In the case of “The Machine,” being able to watch the movie from the comfort of one’s home is an appealing option, especially in these pandemic times. The current pandemic has made it difficult for many people to go to movie theaters, and some have been forced to abandon this preferred pastime. Hence, the ability to stream new releases from major studios has provided an alternative that ensures that no one is left out. However, while streaming has its advantages, the movie-watching experience can suffer for those who enjoy spectating with others at movie theaters. Therefore, we recommend a middle-ground solution where individuals can choose between watching in a theater or streaming options like Netflix.
