The Oilers are loaded with stars, including the famous Connor McDavid vs. Jack Eichel storyline, and the Eichel-less Edmonton team put a lot of power in stars like Leon Draisaitl, Mark Stone, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
The game started off as crazy as a game can start in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with both teams scoring within the first minute. Reilly Smith scored 24 seconds in, and amazingly, it took only 31 seconds for Connor McDavid to respond and get the score tied at one. Warren Foegele scored at 2:43 to give the Oilers their first lead of the game. However, there wouldn’t be another goal for a while. Vegas took over a period to get the game tied up at two, and then Jonathan Marchessault scored a natural hat trick in the second period to get Vegas a 4-2 advantage.
As expected, the game was full of action, as two of the league’s best teams went head-to-head, creating a thrilling atmosphere. With studs like Darnell Nurse and Alex Pietrangelo, the game was expected to be intense, and it undoubtedly was.
Overall, the win is a great thing for the Vegas Golden Knights, as they have been nothing but a winning franchise since joining the league. With some of their top players, including Marchessault and Karlsson, stepping up, the team deserved to be in such a good spot. However, the Oilers will undoubtedly spend their entire off-season searching for answers, as it remains unclear what the team needs to take that next step.
The Western Conference Final will be an exciting thing to watch, especially with Golden Knights, and their star players eager to make it to the coveted Stanley Cup Finals once again. The victory must have boosted their confidence, and it will be interesting to see how well they can perform in the upcoming matches.
