2023 ACM Awards: Breaking Barriers and Celebrating Diversity Among the Winners!

The 2023 ACM Awards were held on Thursday, featuring performances from some of the biggest names in country music. The show, which aired on Prime Video from the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, was hosted by country legends Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks. The awards ceremony began on Wednesday with a series of early wins, including new male and female artist of the year awards going to Zach Bryan and Hailey Whitters, respectively. Ashley Gorley won songwriter of the year, having co-written several hit songs for Morgan Wallen and Chris Stapleton.

Lainey Wilson, who won new female artist of the year, expressed her shock and excitement on Instagram, while Zach Bryan thanked the Academy of Country Music in an Instagram Story. Hardy entered the night as the most-nominated artist, with seven nods, including song of the year and artist-songwriter of the year. He shared three of his nominations with Lainey Wilson, who was nominated for six awards. Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, and Cole Swindell were also each nominated for five trophies.

It was a night of breaking records, as Miranda Lambert received her 17th nomination for female artist of the year, which surpasses Reba McEntire’s record of 16. If either Luke Combs or Chris Stapleton took home entertainer of the year, they too would be Triple Crown winners, joining the ranks of artists who have won entertainer of the year, new artist, and artist of the year.

The show was a star-studded affair, with performances from Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, Cody Johnson, Morgan Wallen, and more. Carly Pearce and Trisha Yearwood performed a medley of hits, while Cole Swindell and Jo Dee Messina teamed up on “She Had Me at Heads Carolina (Remix).” Ed Sheeran also made a special appearance.
