Google Introduces Its New AI-Powered Search Generative Experience
Alphabet Inc’s Google demonstrated a new and improved core search product embedded with more Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate responses in maintaining its leading position in search engines and route down the emerging competition. The search engine giant is upgrading its traditional search method with an AI-enhanced approach to provide users with instant responses that resemble human communication through a Search Generative Experience.
What is the Search Generative Experience?
As per Reuters report, the new and improved version of Google‘s search product will work similarly to the familiar search bar. However, if Google senses that generative AI algorithms could be used to answer a specific query, the top of the results page will display the AI-generated response. These generative AI models are significant advancements in deep learning neural networks that are trained to work as human-like chatbots, called Bard.
How Will it Benefit Users?
The conversational mode allows users to ask follow-up questions based on previously asked queries. However, conversational mode is not intended to be a chatbot with a personality like its competitor OpenAI‘s ChatGPT. Instead, it helps users to fine-tune their search results and provide them with more information most relevant to them. For instance, a question asking what to wear in San Francisco would prompt an AI-generated response informing the user to bring layers and linking the user to websites providing more advice.
When Can Users Try It?
Google has stated they will introduce the Search Generative Experience in the coming weeks to US consumers via a waitlist, where the company will monitor the trials’ quality, cost, and speed. Google‘s Bard is now available with no waitlist in 180 countries and territories. Google has plans to expand the language support from 40 to 180 countries in the near future.
Final Thoughts
Artificial Intelligence has always been at the forefront of Google‘s search facilities, and upgrading the core Google search product with more AI is no surprise. Google‘s approach to generative AI algorithms to maintain its leading position has been successful as the search engine giant continuously provides its users with a more detailed and personal experience in their searches. There is no harm in trying Google‘s Search Generative Experience and seeing if it is as useful as advertised, and users can opt to switch back to the traditional search method if their results do not align with their preferences.
