It is depressing to see a coach with such extensive experience in college basketball making discriminatory remarks. Coaches are expected to mentor their players and provide overall direction that will guide them to become better individuals on and off the court. Therefore, it’s concerning when such individuals make inappropriate remarks that promote exclusion and intolerance.
It is also painful to hear Huggins associate derogatory remarks with a Catholic culture in public. Such negative insinuations further fuel the problem of discrimination in sports and in society. The importance of a diverse and inclusive society cannot be overstated.
